Hayes Grier’s Early Life and Career

Benjamin Hayes Grier was born in New York, on June 08, 2000, and grew up in Mooresville, North Carolina. Around 2013, his older brother Nash ventured into the trending world of Vine where he made clips of inside jokes with friends. Nash’s efforts earned him thousands of followers and Hayes decided that he also wanted to take the same direction in life. He uploaded his own clips on Vine and it didn’t take long for his online popularity to soar to greater heights. Hayes’ social media accounts amassed followers by the millions as he became a well-known name on the Internet. In 2015, he became one of the celebrity contestants (and the youngest male participant) in season 21 of Dancing with the Stars where he was paired with professional dancer Emma Slater. The two finished in 8th place on the show’s seventh week, although Hayes received favorable remarks from the judges. Shortly afterwards, he inked a contract with Creative Arts Agency which ensured potential exposure on a vast array of domains such as endorsements, publishing, and digital distribution and partnerships.

In 2016, Hayes became a recurring cast member in the Hulu horror series Freakish. Also, during the same year, he published his debut novel titled Hollywood Days with Hayes which was based on one of the stories on the mobile storytelling network Episode Interactive. Moreover, he received a nomination in the Choice Web Star: Male accolade during the 2016 Teen Choice Awards.

He has his own comedy series on Verizon’s video streaming service go90 titled Top Grier. The show focused on his life and his family with selfie-style camera shots. It was renewed for two more seasons last September 2017, with the second season filmed along the Gulf Coast including the places devastated by Hurricane Harvey. It is reported that portions of the show’s proceeds will be donated to the relief efforts of the American Red Cross.

Mara Marini’s Early Life and Career

Mara Marini was born on January 06, 1983, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was seemingly born with the acting bug since she told her parents, at the young age of four, that she wanted to become an actress. Her folks had her enroll in multiple colleges so she could have other career choices aside from being onstage, and she even got into the University of Hawaii for a degree in marine biology. Additionally, she was casted in a vast array of indie films throughout the 2000s such as In The Dark (2004), Blood Legend, (2006), and Gothic Vampires from Hell (2007). She also pursued stand-up comedy for a year which served as a great learning experience. She never had any grandiose thoughts of pursuing stardom, instead she just wanted to act and not do anything else. She also possessed an incredible amount of perseverance as she pitched herself at meetings to get a role. However, the actress was sometimes rejected due to being another “blonde beauty with personality”. Marini also had encounters with vulgar agents who would only want her if she came in a bikini.

Around 2010, Marini filmed several television pilots for channels Oxygen and Spike. Moreover, she made appearances in the talk show Chelsea Lately, and joined Adam Lambert in an advertisement for video hosting website Vevo. Her career-defining moment came around 2010 when Parks and Recreation casting director Dorian Frankel held an acting workshop which she joined. Later on, Marini auditioned for the role of pornographic actress Brandi Maxxx in the show, and she managed to land the role despite not being satisfied with her performance in the audition. She made her debut in the season three episode “Jerry’s Painting” in 2011, and made four more appearances until 2015. She also went back to the stage in 2011 where she delivered a praiseworthy performance in the comedy “Esther’s Moustache”.

Big Mike’s Sports Bar & Grill before Bar Rescue

On August 12, 2016, a storm system flooded the southwestern part of Louisiana with more than two feet of rain which was three times the amount of water dumped by Hurricane Katrina. The Amite river overflowed due to the deluge, and the town of Denham Springs was submerged in almost six feet of floodwater.  The catastrophe devastated more than a hundred thousand homes and cost businesses around $2.3 billion in damages. Among the many establishments heavily affected by this is Big Mike’s Sports Bar & Grill.

Prior to the calamity, Big Mike’s Sports Bar & Grill was always packed with clientele and was loved by virtually everyone in the community. The business was so profitable that owners Mike and Jocelyn O’Neal almost made $1.9 million in 2015. However, as the waters began to rise, the pair were forced to evacuate. After their return once the flood receded, they were shocked at the devastation that occurred in their business. Not even a single piece of equipment or furniture can be salvaged. Also, it only took three months for their savings to run dry, and the reconstruction efforts of the bar were ground to a halt. As flood insurance was months away, the O’Neals were set to lose around a million bucks in potential sales.

With nowhere else to turn to, bartender Emily took to social media in hopes of getting the attention of Bar Rescue. With the help of an employee from a previously rescued bar named Spirits on Bourbon, Jon Taffer was alerted to the plight of Big Mike’s and plotted the biggest rescue the show has ever done.

Taffer arrived at Denham Springs and witnessed firsthand the destruction caused by the flood. He met with the O’Neals in their temporary home where the couple recalled how their home was inundated with four feet of water. The Bar Rescue host promised the owners that he will have the bar reopened in days instead of six months.

A paralyzed reconstruction

The trio then visited the remains of the bar where the renovation was at a standstill. Taffer was toured around Big Mike’s and was impressed by how vast the establishment was. Given how much work this particular rescue demanded, Taffer rallied local volunteers and contractors who are all willing to help the beloved O’Neals get back on their feet. Also, he planned to give the bar two separate concepts to make the most out of the vast space. Concept A focused on a casual and loose fun experience while concept B had a formal environment. The latter was given the name “crown room” based on the logo of whisky brand Crown Royal.

As the bar was being rebuilt, Taffer met with the staff in a separate location for training. He learned that most of the employees have been around for many years, a testament of how lovable the O’Neals were. Since it’s been two months since Big Mike’s was open, the skills of the workers have become rusty. To remedy this, Taffer brought in mixologist Rob Floyd and culinary expert Aaron McCargo. Since a stress test was not possible given the circumstances, the employees were instead subjected to an efficiency exercise where they must prepare food within seven minutes and drinks in 25 seconds.

During the exercise, it was evident that the bartenders were having difficulties in coordinating as a team. Most of them also forgot what they should do which ate up a lot of valuable time. Drinks were mixed at around a minute and 15 seconds which was way above their established time limit. In the kitchen, the employees there were paralyzed as they did not receive any tickets for food orders. Once they got to work, they showcased an impressive performance and managed to whip out dishes in just a minute.

The next day, Floyd met with the bartenders and taught them new cocktails that utilized Crown Royal like the Big Mike’s Whisky and Denham Deluxe. In the gastronomic side of things, McCargo fulfilled Jocelyn’s wish of Big Mike’s having a signature pizza. At the reconstruction site, the building materials were getting scarce so Taffer brought in Facilities Maintenance Management (F.M.M) who helped the team procure the much-needed resources for construction.

To test the new capabilities of the staff, Taffer subjected them to a soft opening where they will be using the new systems as well. Despite being slammed with orders, the team behind the bar were all smiles as they expertly mixed drinks in record time. The staff in the kitchen were initially dragged by confusion, but eventually they got the hang of it. The test proved that the employees were comfortable in their upcoming new work environment and that they can work cohesively as a team.

During the big night, the O’Neals and the entire staff of Big Mike’s were greeted with the sight of a resurrected bar. The interior’s dining area had new television sets and numerous tables. Two solid workstations featured POS systems, beer taps, and USB ports on the counters. The kitchen was given fresh equipment, including a double batch pizza oven and a high-end ice machine. The New Orleans Saints room was graced with memorabilia and tabletops. Finally, in partnership with Crown Royal (and a first in Bar Rescue history), the crown room was filled with tabletops, pool tables, and a bar with shelves fully stocked with the whisky. Taffer then showed the staff a video from Sean and Dee Tubridy, the owners of The Bungalow Bar which was rescued by the show after being destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. The Tubridys gave an inspiring message and a $10 grand donation to the O’Neals.

Open for business again

The bar received numerous positive reviews on their Facebook page. There were only a few complaints regarding the service time and food quality. Feedback on their Yelp page were also positive, although the latest review was way back June 2017.

They are regularly featuring food specials on their Facebook page, along with live band performances and events like trivia night on Wednesdays. They are also currently hiring for experienced bartenders, so you better send them a message if you are interested in the position.

Seascape Inn before Kitchen Nightmares

Seascape Inn was opened in 1962 in Islip, New York, courtesy of Irene and her late husband. It was one of the oldest restaurants in Islip and was consistently packed with customers during its glory days. Nowadays, the establishment is ran by Irene and her son Peter, although it no longer had its luster unlike before.

There were a lot of contributing factors to the decline of the Seascape Inn. Many complained about the smell of sewage circulating inside the restaurant. Most of the walls bore obvious signs of neglect like cracks and décor peeling off. As for Peter, he believed that the failure of the business was due to their chef Doug who doesn’t listen to a word he says. The chef, however, believed that he has the right to say what he wanted to say as he saw himself as the one with expertise in the kitchen.

The Seascape Inn needed $800 grand to a million bucks in order to keep it from sinking. Peter knew that only chef Gordon Ramsay can pull him out of this mess.

Seascape Inn on Kitchen Nightmares

Ramsay arrives at the restaurant and meets the entire staff of Seascape Inn. He sat with the owners and had Peter describe the current state of the restaurant in which the latter compared it to the Titanic: once glorious, now sinking. He then ordered a trio of dishes namely a Cajun Atlantic salmon, crab cakes, and lobster ravioli. While waiting for his meals, he noticed not only the awful smell circulating inside the premises but also the horrible state of the walls and the crumbling décor.

The crab cakes were the first to be served and, like the wall décor, it quickly crumbled due to being frozen instead of freshly prepared. The lobster ravioli was described as soggy with a strange taste as it also wasn’t fresh. Finally, the salmon came with a cup of pesto that looked like an oil slick, and the seafood was dry on the inside. Irene approached the chef and gave him a couple of homemade Greek cookies which was too powdery that he almost choked.

That night, Ramsay stood in a corner to observe the staff of Seascape Inn during a dinner service so he could get a complete picture of the restaurant’s problems. Virtually every customer had something bad to say about the food being served. After being disappointed with the operations in the front, Ramsay moved to the kitchen where Doug did as he pleased. When one of the cooks accidentally spilled sauce on the floor, Peter had to personally clean it up as he lacked the courage to order his employees around.

The next day, Ramsay went to the restaurant early to inspect the kitchen. He found grease and grime on almost every space like underneath the tables and on the walls. He saw the ingredients of the dishes he was served yesterday which were all in an inedible and hazardous state. The chef confronted the owners (who both previously attested that the Seascape Inn was thoroughly clean) and were appalled at the sight of their kitchen’s sorry state. In order to avoid having the customers eat food from such a disgusting environment, Ramsay had the restaurant shut down so the staff could clean every nook and cranny. Afterwards, he confronted the owners where Peter was grilled by the chef and his mother for not doing his job as a co-owner.

The kitchen was finally sanitary during the fourth day. Ramsay taught the cooks how to prepare seafood the proper way, much to Doug’s displeasure. The restaurant’s cooks also showed unprofessional behavior as they were unable to replicate the master chef’s cooking. Seeing that these two were nothing but a burden to the business, Ramsay ordered Peter to axe the pair which he did so. The following day, Ramsay brought Peter to a boxing ring to let off a lot of steam while the Seascape Inn was being remodeled. Here, the owner revealed that he was put down by his father while growing up which explained his behavior in the business. The exercise was successful in making Peter realize that he had to prove his father wrong.

The owners were welcomed to a renovated Seascape Inn during the fifth day. The interior’s walls were splashed in red which, combined with the dark brown wood panels, made the establishment look warm. Old photographs that depict the restaurant’s rich history were framed and hung on the walls. Ramsay also brought in a new chef to replace Doug and this new guy proved to be a massive improvement compared to the Seascape’s former cook. Peter was then introduced to Jean-Baptiste Requien, one of Ramsay’s head waiters, to improve the owner’s wardrobe and posture.

At the grand reopening, things were initially chaotic as the staff weren’t used to such a volume of customers. Eventually, they managed to get their groove and work cohesively as a team. Ramsay stayed for another week to help the restaurant’s second new cook Scott.

Seascape Inn Now in 2017 – The After Kitchen Nightmares Update

Seascape Inn didn’t last long as it closed down five months after the episode was taped. It is reported that things basically went back to how they were before Ramsay came to the scene. Also, Peter apparently sold the restaurant to a new owner after Kitchen Nightmares filmed the episode.

The restaurant was supposed to reopen as The Coast, but the plan did not push through. Now, J & R Steak House took over its spot in Islip, New York.

St8 Pub Update – What Happened After Bar Rescue

St8 Pub before Bar Rescue

Sean Al-Bawwab, a resident of Englewood, Colorado, always wanted to open his own bar after working as a bartender for 15 years. His dream was fulfilled in 2015 when an individual handed him the keys to a failing bar, along with a $10 grand loan to help him get started in the business. All he had to do was pay the $10k and the bills on time.

State Pub, or St8, was highly profitable when it opened its doors. However, Sean turned the establishment into his personal playground and drank obscene amounts of liquor instead of doing his job as an owner. He even proudly proclaimed that no one will ever see him sober. To make matters worse, he never paid even a cent for his drinking spree. He was also unable to pay for the rent and the $10 grand he owed as he just drank away all potential profits. Moreover, the owner’s drunken behavior not only drove away customers and staff with tons of F-bombs, but also led to the neglect of the bar.

With his lease unpaid for 13 straight months, Sean’s landlord has finally had enough. He was given five weeks to pay everything he owed or else St8 Pub will be closed for good. With no other option left, the owner decided to summon Jon Taffer and Bar Rescue for help.

Taffer arrives at St8 Pub along with his experts, namely mixologist Shawn Ford and chef Vic Vegas. They examine the bar from the outside and notice that it doesn’t have anything that could entice customers into entering the establishment. The food and drink menu was also placed on the corner of the building for no rhyme or reason. Inside, the place also lacked any personality thanks to conflicting colors and the absence of décor. Also, Sean’s mother Pamela was working hard while her son was goofing around in a drunken stupor. Their lone employee Caitlin manned the bar as Sean axed her colleagues beforehand.

For the recon, the Bar Rescue host deployed two beer aficionados considering that St8 Pub focuses on that kind of beverage. Sean showcases irresponsible vending by serving an Imperial IPA in a mason jar instead of a snifter, thus over-portioning the beer which has a strong alcohol content. The owner also practiced habits unfit for a hospitality professional like refusing to wash his hands after taking out the trash and being well-groomed. When the recon spies ordered sloppy joes, Sean prepared the food with mystery meat placed in a container that was obviously not replaced for several days. Not to mention the disgusting amounts of grease dripping on the kitchen appliances.

Seeing that the food was a glaring health hazard, Taffer and his experts entered the bar before the spies could eat the sloppy joes. Sean still insisted that nobody got sick because of his unhygienic food preparation methods which earned him some verbal lashing from both Taffer and Vegas. In the bar area, Ford revealed dead fruit flies inside the liquor bottles in front of the customers. The master mixologist was also furious at Sean’s extreme irresponsibility in serving draft beer. The Bar Rescue trio left the premises after instructing Pamela to talk some sense into her son.

The following day, Taffer returned and sat down with Sean, Pamela, and Caitlin. After making Sean realize the gravity of his situation, Taffer suggested that the owner talk with the landlord to ask for an extension on the lease, and fortunately the latter agreed. Afterwards, Sean hired a couple of staff on the spot to fill the gaping void in manpower. To prepare for that night’s stress test, Ford trained the new bartenders with basic cocktails since they cannot use the beer tap as it was too filthy. In the kitchen, Vegas stressed the importance of wearing gloves in preparing meals. He also introduced salty snacks that are also quick to prepare which goes well with the beverages.

During the stress test, Sean was having difficulty in communicating with the staff. Some of the new bartenders also performed poorly, no thanks to a lack of confidence and proper training. The kitchen was swamped with orders since the staff assigned there were crippled with disorganization and slow cooking times. Eventually, some of the customers walked out of St8 Pub since they didn’t get their orders on time, and Taffer had no other choice but to shut it down.

The next day, the Bar Rescue host met with Pamela and Sean in the bar to give the owner some pep talk. Ford then tested Sean and the bartenders by making them identify beers through smell while blindfolded. He also taught them how to create beer cocktails like The Stop and Look Around Shandy. In the kitchen, Vegas introduced a spanking new and delicious chip topper that doesn’t use expensive meat.

After the renovation, St8 Pub was transformed into Downstairs Bar and Kitchen. The exterior now had bright orange colors that make the bar pop and will surely attract people passing by. The interior was built to exude a feeling that you are in your basement with adult magazines posted on the walls, cozy furniture, and rugs on the floor. Tabletops matched the wall paneling, cocktail bottles situated above a pile of bricks, and retro decorations adorn the shelves. The host also gave them a lifetime subscription to the bartending app Partender and Taffer Virtual Teaching.

St8 Pub Now in 2017 – The After Bar Rescue Update

The bar received only a handful of reviews in 2017. Most of them praised the laidback atmosphere, the selection of craft beers, and the food.

However, around August 2017, there were comments on the bar’s Facebook page that mentioned the arrival of new management. Later on, Downstairs Bar and Kitchen closed its doors and was replaced by The Englewood Tavern.

The Olde Stone Mill before Kitchen Nightmares

The Olde Stone Mill Restaurant and Bar, located in Tuckahoe, New York, was opened in 2001 courtesy of Dean Marazzo and his wife Barbara. The establishment was situated in an abandoned stone mill, and Dean himself worked on virtually every aspect of its renovation such as the woodwork and the plumbing.

Things were initially great for the restaurant. However, Dean’s harsh treatment of his employees sapped them of morale. This led to the chefs becoming uninspired to whip out quality food, and the other staff members to not give their best at work. They were also clueless to the fact that barely any customer visited them despite being situated in a strategic location. As the earnings went down the drain, the owners were barely able to pay their employees.

With their future at stake, Dean and Barbara had no other choice but to call for Gordon Ramsay in a bid to save their restaurant from shutting down.

The Olde Stone Mill on Kitchen Nightmares

Ramsay arrived at The Olde Stone Mill and was awestruck at how beautiful the restaurant was. He also wondered why nobody ate in such an attractive establishment. His curiosity was answered inside the place when he ordered food and the staff were as slow as molasses in January. He also found none of their food appetizing as he tasted menu items such as the mushroom risotto, the chopped salad (prepared using a funnel), and the tilapia stuffed with lobster. The crab cakes that were served to him were made with canned meat, despite the waiter’s reassurance that they utilized fresh ingredients in making their dishes. As Ramsay delivered his verdict to Dean, the owner took offense and silently wished he could smash the man’s face with a plate.

The next day, the Kitchen Nightmares host sat with the owners to get a firm grasp on the restaurant’s troubles. He found out that Barbara was kept in the dark regarding The Olde Stone Mill’s financial struggles, and Dean defended himself by saying that he didn’t want his wife to worry. The place also had a half a million bucks worth of debt, including the mortgages and the unpaid salaries of the workers.

Afterwards, Ramsay observed the restaurant as the customers flocked in for a Saturday night dinner. The chef Michael expressed his frustration as he had nobody else to help him cook the large number of orders that poured in. Dean and the general manager Tom walked around the dining area without even helping the employees. As for the customers, they complained about the poorly-cooked food which were sent back to the kitchen. Dean never cared about the quality of the restaurant’s dishes as he was only concerned in ensuring that the customers had something to eat, regardless if it was palatable or not. From his observations, Ramsay finally understood that Dean only focused on beautifying the restaurant while neglecting the menu items.

Ramsay then met with Dean and the staff members, and the master chef grilled the owner about the restaurant’s lack of concern over the food. Unfortunately, Dean took offense at Ramsay’s verbal lashing and fought back by insisting that he did a good job in making the customers happy. This forced Ramsay into calling the owner a “fake”, and the latter responded in kind. Dean also insisted that he had a commitment to the restaurant, and Ramsay told him that he had to change himself for the sake of the business.

The next day, Ramsay walked around town to check the competition and found out that there were a lot of restaurants nearby. Also, he learned that there was not a single steak house in the vicinity. Armed with this knowledge, the host brought a prime rib to The Olde Stone Mill’s kitchen and taught Michael how to include it in the new menu. Ramsay then relayed the information to Dean who was skeptical with such a radical change. That night, Ramsay brought in his team of designers and worked on the décor of the restaurant.

The following morning, Ramsay revealed the new signage of the restaurant which clearly indicated that the building was a steakhouse. The interior had pictures that showed the history of the establishment which can keep the customers occupied while waiting for food. The dining area now had new furniture, tableware, and a bright color scheme that made the area look lively. The new menu now consisted of delectable steak and seafood dishes, and the notorious chopped salad was given a better-looking incarnation. Afterwards, Ramsay taught Tom how to introduce the new dishes to the customers which was extremely difficult considering that it was new territory for him.

During the grand reopening, the customers loved the new and refreshing atmosphere of the place. The employees struggled as they were not yet completely familiar with the things implemented by Ramsay. Tom was clearly pressured by the relaunch, causing him to commit several mistakes while sweating like a pig. The service was still slow due to the broken ticket printer in the kitchen, and some of the customers were getting impatient including the city mayor himself. Michael and Dean clashed as the latter blamed the former for the restaurant’s delays, while the chef insisted that he didn’t receive any tickets at all. Ramsay huddled with the staff and rallied them to do their best at such a critical time. Eventually, the employees pulled through and were able to provide excellent service.

The Olde Stone Mill Now in 2017 – The After Kitchen Nightmares Update

A few weeks after the episode, The Olde Stone Mill did great thanks to the massive improvements. To celebrate the building’s 200th anniversary, the people arranged a barbecue and Dean received the key to the city. The owner also made appearances in The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Ramsay revisited the place after a year and saw that the restaurant was still on the right track. In 2009, The Olde Stone Mill was purchased by the DiNapoli family, although Michael remained in the kitchen as the chef. Dean became a co-host of the show Suburban Adventures which focused on hunting and cooking. As for the restaurant, it steered away from being a steakhouse and replaced the menu items with Italian delicacies.

Summit House Grill and Tap before Bar Rescue

The owners

In 2014, Josh and Alexia Lubliner left their office-based careers and opened Summit House Grill and Tap in Lakewood, Colorado. The business was met with immediate success as the coffers welcomed $30 grand on a weekly basis. As profit soared, the couple believed that the bar can survive without their hands-on management. They delegated multiple managers and only visited the establishment a couple of times in a week.

However, these managers felt that they weren’t given the right tools and resources they need to effectively do their jobs. Josh had no other choice but to return to the bar and take control as his team of managers did more harm than good. Since the stress in this business was too much to bear, Josh turned to drinking to ease the burden. Additionally, his apathetic nature proved to be infectious as some of the employees chose to have a good time instead of doing their jobs properly. The negative effects of Josh’s habits also strained his relationship with Alexia.

Now, with $750,000 worth of debt and a marriage on the rocks, Josh had no other choice but to call Jon Taffer and Bar Rescue for help.

Summit House Grill and Tap on Bar Rescue

Taffer, along with Alexia, drove around town and learned that Summit House was at a serious disadvantage due to a chain of restaurants nearby. The Bar Rescue host also faced another challenge: the city’s codes and ordinances prohibited changing the bar’s name and façade.

Through Taffer’s surveillance cameras, the pair watched how Josh and the other male employees goofed around inside the bar. The owner’s drunken state also made him spit out disrespectful words towards the two female customers who drank with him on the counter. Alexei went into the bar as Josh was becoming increasingly furious due to the bartenders refusing to serve him drinks. As she gave her husband a serious tongue lashing, the latter even had the gall to put the blame on her for the bar’s failure. This caused Taffer to charge inside and spill some beer on Josh’s shirt. The show’s host also pummeled Josh with a verbal whoopin’ right in front of the customers.

The next day, Taffer convened with the Summit House staff where the employees unloaded the negative things they felt towards Josh.  After realizing how costly his misdeeds were, Josh had a change of heart and vowed to take things more seriously from now on. Taffer then brought in his experts namely cocktail guru Rob Floyd and chef Michael Ferraro. Floyd tested the bartenders with the basics of serving, starting from greeting the customers up to saying a proper goodbye after serving a drink. In the kitchen, Ferraro introduced an improved mac and cheese dish that was guaranteed to be a hit to the clientele.

During the stress test, the staff members still struggled in properly doing Floyd’s hospitality basics. Service was also at a snail’s pace as the growing number of customers overwhelmed the employees with orders. Nichole, the general manager of Summit House, displayed exemplary performance behind the bar which earned her praise from Taffer and the experts. As for Josh, he did his best in helping his troops serve the orders. However, the efforts of the workers in the establishment were in vain as they were crippled by the lack of systems.

The following morning, Taffer sat with the owners for a brief pep talk. Behind the bar, Floyd mixed a cocktail named The Hot Choddy which was well-suited for Colorado’s weather. He also enhanced bartender Travis’ hospitality skills as the man struggled in that department back in the stress test. In the kitchen, Ferraro prepared a signature dish with cooking techniques proper for the high altitude and made good use of a short rib, onions, and mashed potatoes.

The new interior

The renovation gave the interior an atmosphere that resembled the outdoors since the bar’s name had the word summit on it. Artificial plants and rocks served as décor while wooden floors and dividers made the place warmer. The employees were given a brown uniform that made them look like park rangers. The bar proved to be quite a success not only due to the changes made by the show, but also to Josh’s sobriety and improved attitude.

Summit House Grill and Tap Now in 2017 – The After Bar Rescue Update

As of 2017, Summit House Grill and Tap is still open, although it seems that the quality of their service deteriorated.

The bar has numerous reviews on their Yelp page, and a majority of these feedback are negative. People complained about the poor customer service and noted that some of the employees were rude. The food quality was horrible with one customer said that there were strands of hair in the dish. Moreover, it seems that Josh was back to his drunken ways.

Last December 2016, the bar was subjected to an inspection which it failed with around 14 critical violations. Some of these offenses include the lack of soap at the sink, employees washing hands for too long, the use of moldy lemons, and the unhygienic conditions of some of the kitchen equipment.

Summit House used to have a Facebook page, but for some reason it was taken down. They also had an official website which was gone as well.

Handlebar before Kitchen Nightmares

The Handlebar is one of the many food establishments located in Mt. Sinai, New York. It was purchased by couple Billy and Carolyn LeRoy last 2007 as they thought that it was a good business opportunity. The restaurant had a reputation for being a favorite haunt of the locals, but now it was dilapidated with neglect.

The restaurant was plagued with problems a year after being opened. The bar area was where the clientele flocked, leaving the dining room and its 18 tables deserted. It also had severely outdated décor and menu items which Billy didn’t want to change as he thought it was cool.  Speaking of Billy, he wasn’t doing his best as a manager and frequently had mood swings which frustrated his employees. Moreover, the chef they hired named Melissa lacked the skills to whip out palatable dishes even though the owners insisted that she was a very talented cook.

With the earnings going down the drain, the couple was forced to resort on loans just to keep the restaurant open and to avoid losing their home. There was one last option left on the table for Billy and Carolyn: Chef Gordon Ramsay.

Handlebar on Kitchen Nightmares

Chef Ramsay arrives at Handlebar and meets with the incredibly-nervous couple. As with typical Kitchen Nightmares fashion, the chef orders a selection of the restaurant’s menu items. While waiting for his food, Ramsay was surprised at the sight of the deserted dining area and the décor that was apparently around since the last century.

Billy and Carolyn breathed a sigh of relief as Ramsay enjoyed the soup, although Melissa found it hard to believe that her cooking impressed the expert chef. However, the next dishes failed to appease Ramsay’s taste buds which brought Carolyn to tears. After the taste test, Ramsay summoned the restaurant’s staff for a meeting and briefed them on the problems that plagued the establishment. Melissa confessed that she was not really a chef and that she had no passion for cooking.

Later that night, Ramsay observed Melissa in order to observe how her apathy affected the quality of the dishes she made. An hour into dinner service, the restaurant ran out of veggies which forced the staff to utilize strange ingredient combinations as substitutes. The Kitchen Nightmares host then confronted Billy and straight up told him that the food was the Handlebar’s weakest link, but the owner refused to believe this.

The next morning, Ramsay visited the restaurant for a surprise inspection and found how unsanitary the conditions were in the food storage area. All of his findings led him to the conclusion that everyone in the establishment lacked any kind of passion in serving quality food and making the customers happy. Melissa and the entire staff were forced to clean every nook and cranny, but Billy refused to help them in this endeavor. Ramsay again confronted Billy which quickly became heated as the latter was unable to accept criticism, eventually leading to the owner walking out in a show of arrogance and pride.

Carolyn was left in the Handlebar and, unlike Billy, she was dedicated to ensuring that the business does not shut down. She also worked with Ramsay in every step of the way, starting with revamping the restaurant’s menu with better food. During the second dinner service, Billy returned for the sake of his wife with still no love for Ramsay. Things slowly went downhill as the kitchen was swamped with orders which did not bode well with the simmering temper of the impatient customers.  Seeing the collapse of his kitchen during a busy night, Billy had no other choice but to cooperate with Ramsay and let go of his bad attitude.

The Kitchen Nightmares team worked throughout the night for the Handlebar’s relaunch. They got rid of the restaurant’s antiquated atmosphere and gave it a fresh new look which included vibrant lamps and regal-looking furniture. Ramsay also turned the restaurant into a gastropub which was something the staff was unfamiliar with. To help spread the word about the restaurant’s new incarnation, Ramsay arranged a motorcycle rally which included Twisted Sister lead singer Dee Snider. He also stayed during the relaunch night to enjoy the food along with WWE legend Mick Foley.

Ramsay revisited Handlebar a year later and found their dishes enjoyable. However, shortly after filming the revisit, the restaurant closed its doors.

Benchwarmers

The establishment was sold to a new owner and reopened as Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar in 2010. A year later, it was shut down and again changed ownership, turning it into a sports bar named Benchwarmers Tavern and Grill which is still open up to this day.

Sadly, Billy succumbed to cancer in 2015.

Luigi’s D’Italia before Kitchen Nightmares

Luigi’s D’Italia was opened in the city of Anaheim in 1981, courtesy of chef Luigi Cartizone with the help of his father Dominic. The restaurant enjoyed success for many years with many customers enjoying both its food and atmosphere.

In 1999, Dominic retired from the business and went home to Italy. He also sent his other son Tony to help Luigi with the restaurant. However, the brothers were not on the same page in running the establishment. Eventually, their differences led to loud verbal clashes which also involved Grace, the loudmouthed wife of Luigi. It came to the point where Grace had profane outbursts that targeted the customers.

The restaurant suffered from the toxic environment created by the trio’s inability to work together. Customers no longer enjoyed dining there, and profits were not as high as it used to be. With the Luigi’s D’Italia’s reputation and survival on the line, there was no other choice for the owners but to call for Gordon Ramsay and Kitchen Nightmares for help.

Ramsay arrived at Luigi’s D’Italia and was met by the Cartizones. When they sat together for a meeting, the rift between Tony and Luigi was in full view as the brothers (and their respective wives) pointed fingers at each other for the restaurant’s failure. Tensions quickly flared as their voices reached ear-piercing levels, complete with table-slamming and a couple of F-bombs.

After getting a taste of the intense family problem, Ramsay then went on to sample the restaurant’s dishes. The fried ravioli he ordered was not freshly-prepared, the “special” mahi-mahi had a mushy and bland flavor, and the linguini pescatore was described as disgusting. When Ramsay’s complaints reached the ears of Luigi, the latter took it as an offense as he believed that his dishes were unchallenged for 30 straight years until now.

During the dinner service, Luigi was proud of how fast his crew was in preparing and serving the dishes. However, this was obviously not a good thing as none of them even tasted the meals they made. The food came back to the kitchen as quickly as it left. Luigi, frustrated by the criticisms of the customers, clashed with Ramsay and called the latter “arrogant” before walking out. Tony followed his brother and gave the latter some words of encouragement. Before the night ended, Ramsay told Luigi that he had to work hard and smart if he wanted the restaurant to succeed.

The next day, Ramsay summoned the brothers and their wives to the kitchen where they watched through a CCTV the professional chef listening to the woes of the Luigi D’Italia employees. Grace refused to believe the staff members when they described her incredibly-negative behavior and inability to take criticism. Ramsay then had the two groups sit together to repair the rift that had long plagued the establishment.

The Kitchen Nightmares host began working on the renovation of the restaurant, starting with the menu items. He taught the staff how to create authentic Italian sausages that fit the restaurant’s theme. Afterwards, he had the brothers watch a video of their father giving them a much-needed pep talk. Tears ensured, and Luigi vowed that he will become a changed man from now on.

During the reopening, Ramsay revealed the new interior of the restaurant which had an appealing Italian charm in every corner. The tissues and furniture now bore the Luigi’s D’Italia logo to reinforce branding. The menu was shrunk to a manageable size and consisted of delectable dishes that the customers will surely enjoy. At the relaunch night, everyone in the establishment worked with a positive energy that was not felt for a long time. However, there was a slight problem with the lack of communication which almost had Luigi going berserk again, but fortunately, Ramsay was there to get the brothers back on track again.

Luigi’s D’Italia was met with mixed reviews throughout 2017 on their Yelp page, while on TripAdvisor things looked a bit more positive. Five-star ratings were also abundant on their Facebook page.

On September 18, 2017, the folks at the restaurant announced that they were relocating to a new spot. Two months later, a post was made on Facebook which revealed the new location to be at Fullerton.

On December 14, 2017, the new Luigi’s D’Italia branch was opened. Apparently, this new location focuses more on takeout orders with only a few tables inside for dine-in customers. The post was met with many positive reactions from their fans.

Tavolini before Kitchen Nightmares

Tavolini opened its doors in Bridgeport, Connecticut, courtesy of married couple Keith and Lisa Restivo. Despite their inexperience in the restaurant business, the couple enjoyed massive earnings thanks to the influx of happy customers during Tavolini’s heyday. They were also joined by Lisa’s son Van (Keith’s stepson) and their daughter Joli in running the place.

Unfortunately, those happy days didn’t last long as the establishment started to lose its momentum. As profits dipped to negative values, the restaurant began to have an air of negativity in it. Keith and Lisa ran out of motivation and, instead of properly managing the place, they just loitered aimlessly without any purpose. It came to the point where Keith decided that it was better for him to stay at home and watch the restaurant through CCTV cameras connected to his laptop. This further frustrated not only Van and Joli but also the entire staff of Tavolini.

The couple had to admit that they were at the end of their ropes with both the restaurant and their marriage. Failure was not an option as it would most certainly lead to not only bankruptcy but also to divorce. With no other choice left on the table, the Restivos called Gordon Ramsay and Kitchen Nightmares for help.

Ramsay arrived at the restaurant on his vehicle but, before he could park, Van had the initiative to sit in the passenger seat to talk to the chef. Van revealed that Keith was in the restaurant now because the latter found out that Ramsay was paying a visit. When the chef finally arrived at Tavolini, both Keith and Lisa were quick to say that they were managing the place 24/7, but Van stepped in and told Ramsay the truth about the working schedules of his parents.

While Ramsay waited for his orders, Keith left the premises without any warning. Lisa had to cover for her husband by saying that had to go pick up some things. As predicted by the staff, the meatball dish Ramsay ordered was described as gross and horrible. The stuffed clam not only tasted bad, but it also lacked the actual clam meat and was only composed of stuffing. Finally, the pan roasted salmon was undercooked and was accompanied with an insipid mush that was prepared yesterday.

Keith returned to the scene and butted horns with Van, while Lisa was caught in the crossfire. Ramsay approached the dysfunctional family to defuse the tension which fortunately worked. That night, he sat with Lisa one-on-one to get up to speed with Tavolini’s dismal financial situation. She also admitted that the thoughts of divorce lingered in her head and that she would push through with it if the restaurant bites the dust.

During the dinner service, the food was served to the customers at top speed which Ramsay found suspicious. He quickly uncovered that the ingredients were of horrible quality and were prepared a day ago, with one of the chefs justifying the kitchen’s quantity over quality approach. The revelation caused the orders to be served at a snail’s pace and, during this chaotic night, Lisa and Keith were nowhere to be found. Van found the two in their car, cozily eating dinner and escaping from the restaurant’s problems. After the dinner service, the couple was completely insensitive to the fact that Tavolini was struggling because of their lack of concern and enthusiasm.

The following day, Keith and Lisa were caught by surprise as the restaurant was boarded shut and labeled “OUT OF BUSINESS”. Ramsay approached the pair and revealed that it was his version of shock therapy in hopes of getting the two on the right path. The wakeup call proved to be a success, and the couple even said their apologies to the staff and to the children.

For the second dinner service, Ramsay instructed the couple to take active roles in the restaurant. Keith and Lisa showcased impressive performances in working with the staff, while the customers loved the new family-style dishes of Tavolini. However, those who didn’t order the new menu items were still waiting as food production slowed to a crawl. The chaos got the best of the couple which brought their momentum to a screeching halt. Luckily, one of the chefs named Michael took control of the situation which resulted in quick service times and customers going home with smiles on their faces.

The renovation still proceeded even when Ramsay still had doubts over the capabilities of the owners. The interior now exuded an elegant atmosphere thanks to a warmer paint, textured art walls, and beautiful new plates. The kitchen was decluttered for more space so the staff could move properly. Moreover, the exterior was given a new identity that proudly promises a new family-style dining experience.

With Tavolini rejuvenated, and the family saved, Ramsay was optimistic that the Restivos were set up for success.

Tavolini Now in 2018 – The After Kitchen Nightmares Update

Weeks after the relaunch, it was revealed that Keith and Lisa failed to meet Ramsay’s expectations. The two also went their separate ways and ended their marriage. The restaurant also landed in hot water in early 2011 when the owners suddenly closed the place weeks after giving gift certificates to customers, and this sparked an investigation from the Attorney General.

Tavolini was closed in December 2011. An answering machine cited the closure was due to Keith’s “medical reasons” whenever anyone tried to call the restaurant’s hotline. It was also reported that the real reason for the establishment’s shutdown was because of the inability to pay the vendors, rent, and a mountain of debt. Their defunct Facebook page has a review that sheds more light on the lack of commitment of the owners.

As of today, a new restaurant occupies the place, named BRYAC Restaurant & Raw Bar.

Pantaleone’s before Kitchen Nightmares

Pantaleone’s, in Denver, Colorado, was opened in 1985 by couple Pete and Paulette Fafalios. During those early years, the restaurant amassed a great number of awards and positive reviews which were put on a frame and hung on the wall.

Unfortunately, Pete was stuck in the past and believed that his pizza was still top-notch, despite the fact that barely anyone now visited Pantaleone’s. Those who did also complained of bad food quality which Pete dispelled, insisting that there was some other reason as to why people weren’t happy with the pizza. Even his son Josh and grandson Gabe agreed with the negative reviews on the establishment, and they were also frustrated by Pete’s stubbornness in the matter.

The restaurant’s problems brought a significant amount of stress to the family, and its failure could force them to sell the place and lose their livelihood. With no other choice left on the table, Pete and Paulette had decided to call for Gordon Ramsay and Kitchen Nightmares to turn their situation around.

Ramsay arrived at Pantaleone’s and shook hands with the Fafalios. During the meeting with the couple, Pete revealed that the restaurant was closed on Sundays and Mondays, with the former because he wanted to watch football. Paulette admitted that they also closed their doors during the afternoon so Pete could have his siesta. Josh, now 33 years old, still wasn’t promoted to head chef as Pete insisted that he will be at the helm no matter what.

While waiting for his food, Ramsay felt that the restaurant, which was virtually empty, had an atmosphere akin to a hospital room. Paulette also hung a creepy holographic clown portrait which was something you would expect in a haunted house than a pizza parlor. As for the food, the calzone had an obscene amount of undercooked filling, the incredibly-greasy thin crust sausage pizza was ridiculously large and as thick as a baguette, the meatball hero was described like a patch of grass after a cow relieved itself on it, and the linguini was like hospital food. As expected, Pete was insulted by the expert chef’s opinion of his cuisine and disagreed on everything Ramsay said about the restaurant and the dire situation of the Fafalios.

The next day, Ramsay did a little field work by going downtown where he had the public taste Pete’s pizza in comparison to two other similar dishes. Afterwards, he returned to Pantaleone’s to relay the results, and of course, Pete’s handiwork only gathered 10% positive remarks. After being threatened by Paulette and Josh in leaving him for good, Pete finally dropped his ego and vowed to change for good. Later on, Ramsay brought Pete and Josh to Las Vegas where they visited the popular pizza restaurant Rao’s and met with its owner Frank Pellegrino Jr. The father and son learned the importance of having a strong bond with each other when it came to running a restaurant. Additionally, while they were in Vegas, Ramsay gave the order to his team in renovating Pantaleone’s.

The makeover got rid of the restaurant’s depressing 80’s atmosphere and replaced it with a fresh, contemporary feel. Fresh coats of paint adorned the walls, while an assortment of signs added a modern hip vibe to the interior. The framed reviews and the scary holographic clown were taken down and replaced with pictures of Italy and the early years of Pantaleone’s. As for the menu, Ramsay reduced the food items and the portion sizes of the servings. He also provided a handful of new dishes that were modern versions of Italian classics. Finally, 1-800-Charity Cars donated a van to the restaurant so they can offer delivery services to hungry customers all over Denver.

During the relaunch night, customers immediately noticed the changes in the interior which were received with praise. Pete and Josh worked as a team in the kitchen, but the former was quickly overwhelmed by a large number of orders which caused his old attitude problems to flare up. This led to a miscommunication between the two and resulted in almost no orders being served. Ramsay summoned the pair outside and gave them some verbal lashing which did the trick in setting them back on track. Now, the orders were served in an organized manner, and the customers loved the fresh new taste of Pete’s pizza.

Pantaleone’s Now in 2018 – The After Kitchen Nightmares Update

As of 2018, Pantaleone’s is still open and has amassed above average reviews during the past years.

People gave positive remarks on the service of the entire staff, described the place as cozy, and praised the affordable price tags on the menu. The food items had mixed reviews, with some not in favor of the changes done in the pizzas. There were also remarks regarding the restaurant’s location which was not very accessible and proved to be one of their main problems.

Nino’s Italian Restaurant before Kitchen Nightmares

Nino’s Italian Restaurant opened its doors on July 31, 1958, courtesy of immigrants Inge and Vincenzo Cristiano. Later on, their children Carina, Michael, and Nino helped run the place as employees. After successfully running the business for many years, Vincenzo separated himself from the restaurant as he was on the onset of dementia at the age of 88. Upon his retirement, Nino was set to become the new restaurant manager, but his son proved to be a very bad choice for the role.

Nino acted like he owned the place since, as per his insistence, the restaurant was named after him. He also had the habit of locking himself up in the office to watch TV, knowing that he’ll still get paid regardless of what he did. Moreover, the 60-year-old’s childish behavior put him at odds with some of the customers, much to the frustration of Michael and Carina.

The restaurant struggled financially as the tables were rarely occupied by customers. To keep it from closing, Inge was forced to take money from her retirement fund to pay the bills. With no other choice left, Michael and Carina decided to call for Gordon Ramsay and Kitchen Nightmares for help.

Nino’s Italian Restaurant on Kitchen Nightmares

Ramsay arrived at Nino’s and immediately felt like he was in 1958 thanks to the restaurant’s outdated décor. He met with Inge and the three Cristiano children, with Nino spouting BS like how he worked hard in the establishment on a daily basis, but his claims were quickly countered by his siblings. Despite their differences when it came to who really ran the place, the trio was in agreement that the food in the restaurant was superb. Ramsay put these assertions to the test by ordering a couple of items in the menu.

While waiting for his orders, the Kitchen Nightmares host looked around and found a lot of unsightly things like gum under the tables and cobwebs on the walls. Nino defended himself by saying that he always cleaned the interior, and he even showed Ramsay pictures of himself while cleaning.

The chicken piccata dish arrived first, with the meat described as floury and slimy. The bowl of meatball tasted horrible since it was made four days ago. Nino countered every bit of criticism and showed complete arrogance as he refused to believe that the dishes were indeed bad, even going as far as throwing F-bombs towards Ramsay and calling him “the problem” of the restaurant. Later that day, Ramsay inspected the kitchen’s operations during dinner service and found out that the chefs prioritized quantity over quality while utilizing ingredients that were made many days ago.  While the food was served fast, the customer complaints came just as quick, and Carina and Michael handled the situation while Nino busied himself by standing idly and doing nothing.

The next day, Ramsay met with Inge and formulated a plan on how to make Nino act like a true manager. This involved boarding up the restaurant as if it was closed for good, with Inge saying that she “decided” to end the business because it doesn’t work anymore. Fortunately, the plan worked and Nino vowed that he would set things straight from now on. Carina and Michael were brought up to speed and, despite finding Nino’s change of heart something very hard to believe in, they eventually agreed to forget the past for the sake of the business.

Now that the siblings vowed to work together from now on, Ramsay tore down the restaurant’s severely-outdated interior to pave way for the future. The drab round colors of the interior were replaced with bright and refreshing hues like white to make the place appear lighter. The dusty Chianti bottles on the ceiling were swapped with light fixtures made from apple baskets. Long wooden family tables were included so large groups of customers can eat together without feeling too cramped sitting next to each other.

During the relaunch night, Nino was assigned to the kitchen to see how he fared under pressure and if he could indeed prove himself a changed man. Meals came out at a steady pace but, as the orders grew in number, Nino found himself having a hard time in doing his job. Michael stepped in the scene to take control of things, and he himself was also overwhelmed which caused his temper to flare up. Fortunately, Nino stood his ground and managed his team until all of the customers went home with smiles on their faces. Unfortunately, Michael wasn’t as tough as his older brother, and he walked out of the restaurant much to the disappointment of his family.

Nino’s Italian Restaurant Now in 2018 – The After Kitchen Nightmares Update

Nino’s gathered mixed reviews throughout the years after the episode aired in 2013. However, most of the changes brought by Kitchen Nightmares weren’t warmly received by the clientele, thus causing the restaurant to revert to its traditional atmosphere.

In 2014, Vincenzo passed away at the age of 90, surrounded by family and loved ones, along with some of the longtime staff of the restaurant.

Three years later, a message was posted on their Facebook page which announced that Nino’s will close its doors on August 14, 2016. Guests from different states flew to Los Angeles just to join the family for one last meal in the restaurant. The Cristianos decided that it was time to retire from the business and had listed the place for sale. As of 2018, it seems that the place remains unsold.

Charles Raynor, or WolfieRaps, was born in Ontario, Canada, on June 15, 1993. His father Chris is an orthopedic surgeon, while his mother Mandy is a fitness expert. His siblings, Zach and Quintessa, are into music as well just like their older brother.

At the age of 13, Raynor started his first YouTube channel named “Thosechoobz” with the purpose of uploading videos just for fun and not for profit. He also created a number of different channels like “TheSquids”, “Terribadz”, and “DemHoodNiggs” where posted his raps and remixes.

In 2013, WolfieRaps created the channel “WolfieEnt” which contains an assortment of entertaining videos. Three years later, after graduating from Carleton University in Ottawa and earning a business marketing degree, he focused on becoming a full-time YouTuber, and his number of subscribers soared by the millions. His style of creating videos leaned towards comical challenges and fast-paced comedy skits.

WolfieRaps derived his pseudonym from his sister’s pet cat named Wolf, combined with Raps which is his rapper name. He is also in a relationship with beauty guru and YouTuber Sylvia Gani since January 18, 2014.

Spin a Yarn before Kitchen Nightmares

Spin a Yarn in Fremont, California, was bought by Saki Kavouniaris in 1995 as the 60-year-old restaurant was struggling to stay afloat. The establishment got back up to its feet as business was booming, that is until Saki hired bartender Jennifer and got married to her two years later.

Turns out, Jennifer was inexperienced in the restaurant business and lied her way into getting the job. Fellow employees admitted that she didn’t know what she was doing while on the floor. Additionally, when the establishment’s profits slowed to a crawl, Jennifer suggested to Saki that the place needed a remodeling. She was tasked with purchasing the furniture and décor needed to achieve this, and she did so without looking at the price tag of the items she bought. This ended with Saki accumulating more than $900 grand in expenditures.

Eventually, the relationship between Saki and Jennifer became sour as the restaurant became increasingly plagued by problems. Their daughter Mikayla was caught in between, and she knew that her parents were headed towards divorce. With nowhere else to turn to, the couple wrote an emotional letter to Gordon Ramsay and Kitchen Nightmares before it is all too late.

Spin a Yarn on Kitchen Nightmares

After receiving the letter, Chef Ramsay decided to visit Jennifer at her home before going to Spin a Yarn. In their conversation, Jennifer admitted that she lied to get the job and that Saki hired her even if it was glaringly obvious that she lacked the necessary skills to be one of the servers. She also confessed that she wasn’t totally attracted to Saki at first, and it took her eight months before she fell for the man. Nowadays, the couple rarely talked especially after that remodeling incident that put the restaurant in a very difficult situation.

Ramsay then visited Spin a Yarn and, after seeing the attire of the male servers (which they didn’t like), commented that they looked more like funeral undertakers and fat penguins. Saki gave Ramsay a tour of the restaurant where the latter got a glimpse of what Jennifer bought during her shopping spree such as expensive bathroom tiles, the shockingly-pricey granite countertops, and a fireplace. Adding to the many problems of the restaurant is its lack of identity as Saki couldn’t even tell what cuisine his business specialized in.

To sample the menu of Spin a Yarn, Ramsay ordered a handful of dishes like the Greek Sampler which was made of canned ingredients, the crab louie which was not quite fresh, and the rubbery filet mignon with a teriyaki sauce that tasted like cough medicine. After the disastrous taste test, Ramsay headed to the kitchen to chat with the personnel. The kitchen staff revealed that Saki was holding them back from what they wanted to do with the food, and the owner was unable to defend himself from these claims.

During the dinner service that night, the kitchen had troubles with staffing as their head chef was washing dishes no thanks to the lack of personnel, a problem that could’ve been solved if Saki was not hesitant to pay additional expenditures. This led to the food being returned as the customers weren’t pleased with what the chefs cooked up, and Saki just stood in one place without doing anything to alleviate the situation. Jennifer was also in the restaurant, but she was unable to help as she didn’t know what to do, no thanks to the lack of communication between her and Saki. To make matters worse, Ramsay discovered that the ingredients stored in the freezer were moldy and rancid. After some words from the Kitchen Nightmares host, the couple began working on cleaning the contents of their freezer and Saki taking responsibility instead of blaming others.

The next day, Ramsay sat with the couple to try and mend their marriage. Saki admitted that he must change his ways, and he realized that he really needed Jennifer to be on his side. With the two committed to being a team, Ramsay delegated the couple to hands-on responsibilities for that night’s dinner service to make them more involved. Jennifer was frustrated as she was tasked with serving prime rib, something she’s never done before. After making one too many mistakes, she finally got a hang of things and became more confident in cutting and serving the meat.

To give Spin a Yarn the makeover it truly needed, Ramsay focused its cuisine on steak so the menu isn’t a confusing mess of dishes. During the relaunch night, the customers loved the new dishes. However, Jennifer was having trouble again in cutting the prime rib as she carved them at inconsistent sizes. Because of this, the restaurant’s stock of the meat ran dangerously low as a large number of orders came in. Fortunately, the kitchen had an emergency prime rib stashed in their storage, and Saki and Jennifer worked together in serving those.

In the end, things turned out well with the couple having a renewed relationship and the restaurant not in troubled waters anymore.

Spin a Yarn Now in 2018 – The After Kitchen Nightmares Update

The episode was aired in February 2012. In the following years, the restaurant amassed a good number of positive feedback.

As of this year, Spin a Yarn is still alive and kicking. Recent reviews praised the restaurant’s selection of dishes, the attentive serving staff with pleasing personalities, and the ambiance. The restaurant also has large rooms for private groups, buffet meals, and brunch specials based on occasions.

The menu on their website features a wide variety of dishes aside from steaks like seafood, cakes, and a vast array of wine selections.
